Born in the north-east of Brazil, he began playing the guitar very early and continued his studies as a self-taught and partly at the Conservatory of Natal in Brazil. Music will never abandon him, in family reunions, among friends and in the first public performances in night clubs in the region where he was born and from where he takes the greatest influence and inspiration. It has as initial references the authors of the Brazilian romantic song such as Lupicínio Rodrigues, Noel Rosa, Cartola, the authors of Bossa Nova and Brazilian popular music such as Luiz Gonzaga, Gonzaguinha, Gilberto Gil, Edu Lobo, Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque de Hollanda and later Lenine, Chico César and many others. Singer, guitarist and composer, he has lived permanently in Italy since the 1980s. In Italy he participates in various festivals including the Latin American festival of Modena, Turin and Bologna, the Appennino Music Festival, the Veneto Jazz Festival and the Blu events. In 2008 he recorded the album 'Round, Tavares Quintet (Philology), a tribute to the 50 years of Bossa Nova, presented in the billboard of the Jazz Festival of Marca, (Sant'Elpidio Jazz Festival), at the Lauro Rossi Theater (Macerata) and at the Emilia Romagna Jazz Festival. In 2015 he was invited by Fabio Accardi to record together with Roberto Taufic, Fabrizio Bosso, Gabriele Mirabassi, Paola Arnesano, Maria Pia De Vito, Rossella Giancaspero, Vince Abbracciante the disc 20 Anos de Saudades, a tribute to Tom Jobim, for Mordente Records. The record will take him on a tour in China with a stop in Hong Kong. During his career he has collaborated with many musicians: Roberto Taufic, Simon Papa, Gilson Silveira, Roberto Rossi, Giancarlo Bianchetti, Andrea Taravelli, Marco Zanotti, Maurizio Piancastelli, Silvia Donati, Massimo Tagliata, Dimitri Sillato, Fabio Accardi, Eduardo Taufic, Cristina Renzetti, Barbara Piperno, Lucio Ferrara, Geoof Warren, Gabriele Mirabassi, Giorgio Vendola, Nando di Modugno, Giuseppe Bassi. This new Rio Doce album sees collaboration with many of these musicians and is a blend of Bossa Nova, Jazz and Brazilian Popular Music. The album takes its title from the Brazilian river made sadly famous by an environmental catastrophe that occurred in November 2015.
