The young vibraphonist Giovanni Perin presents his new album as a bandleader, Meet Me, released by Irma Records. The album serves as an invitation to connect, offering an opportunity to get to know each other through the universal language of music. Giovanni Perin delivers a simple yet powerful message: in an age where we are constantly connected but increasingly isolated, rediscovering the value of authentic encounters—whether human or musical—can bring depth and meaning to our lives. The album cover is intentionally minimalist: a white canvas, symbolizing expressive freedom, which the listener is invited to fill with the images and emotions evoked by the compositions. This artistic choice stands in contrast to an era dominated by images and digital content, aiming to bring the focus back to pure music. The album features eight original compositions by Giovanni Perin, taking listeners on a journey through his diverse musical experiences. Jazz, funk, Latin, pop, and contemporary sounds blend seamlessly in an eclectic and vibrant work, reflecting the versatility of the young vibraphonist and offering an optimistic outlook for the future. Joining him are renowned musicians from the Italian scene: Giulio Scaramella on piano, Alessio Zoratto on double bass, Luca Colussi on drums, and Michele Polga, who contributes his tenor saxophone to three tracks. With Meet Me, the young vibraphonist takes the listener on a journey through his musical world, built on a refined balance of rhythm, melody, and harmony—the fundamental elements of music. Rhythm is the driving force, the energy behind each track. The melody tells stories, guiding the listening experience. Harmony, in turn, adds depth and color, transforming a simple melodic line into an emotional journey, leading the listener through new and evocative soundscapes.
